The waste destiny

Today the sorting became an eveyday feature of life; French people sort out their waste more and more and better and better. but what becomes our waste once sorted out?

WHAT ARE THE RAW MATERIALS WHICH THE RECYCLING ALLOWS US TO SAVE ?

For all the recyclable domestic packaging, a second life is possible thanks to the recycling. All the plastic packaging, the food bricks, the metal (cans and sprays), the cardboard, the newspapers, the magazines and the paper, put down in your yellow bin, are concerned.

WHAT BECOME OUR DOMESTIC RECYCLABLE PACKAGING ?

    • Steel (sprays and food tins) can be recycled endlessly. Having been melted, it will be used to make new domestic objects (packaging, cars, trolleys …). For one ton of recycled steel, one ton of iron ore is saved.

    • Food brick, the paper and the cardboard are recycled in kitchen or toilet paper, in domestic paper or wrapping paper for gifts. When the reused fibers run out, some new paper pulp is then added to obtain a correct recycling.

      • The glass is collected in the collective containers for voluntary deposits intended for that purpose. It is then driven towards glass factories where it will be crushed and melted again. The glass is recyclable endlessly. Recycling a glass bottle, the same glass bottle can be manufactured. The glass collection is necessary for the protection of our environment and since 2000, this collection allows us to show solidarity. Indeed, the SICTOM pays every year a grant to the National League against the Cancer, which corresponds to 3.05 € by collected ton. Thus in 2007, the League received 12 000 €.

    • Plastics according to their characteristics, are crushed to obtain granules and flakes then they are recycled: the PET (polyethylene terephtalate = bottles of water or soft drink), which are recycled in textile fibers, eggs limps become fibers of filling for eiderdowns or anoraks ; the PEHD (high-density polyethylene = flasks of household products or food liquids) are recycled in pipes of protection for cables, in urban furniture, in flowerpots, collection bins …..
